Mike Proposed!

It FINALLY happened! On May 18th, 2012, my boyfriend of the past year and a half, Mike Ames, officially asked me to marry him! We are so excited to be engaged and are looking forward to a lifetime of love and happiness. Here's a picture of my gorgeous ring! It's my late grandmother's from the 1800's! I am in LOVE!

On that note... LET THE PLANNING BEGIN!

Ever since I was a little girl, I've been planning my wedding. At first it was the Barbie dream house wedding, complete with a horse drawn carriage, pink EVERYWHERE and the ever-so-fluffy white dress. Now that I've grown up a bit, I think we can do away with the horse drawn carriage and mass abundance of pink; however, I'm still convinced that the fluffy white dress is here to stay!

I never knew how much planning and preparation actually goes into a wedding. From everything that I've known, you just show up one day and there are flowers and cocktails and food galore; all for you and your guests to enjoy. I had NO IDEA that there were so many infinite details that needed to be put into action. I started my pinterest board last fall - this of course has helped me come up with a theme of some sorts and what I'm envisioning. But that doesn't help pick out the location, the officiant, the flowers, the menu, the cake, the invitations, the showers, the registry, the honeymoon... as you can see, my head is spinning!

We initially started our planning down in St. Augustine, Florida. My grandparents used to vacation down here every year; we thought after their passing that this would be a nice gesture to them, since they can't be with us on our day. We checked out a few places, and slowly got discouraged. Most of the locations had noise ordinances and would need to close at 10:00, others had no parking, were too pricey, were unavailable, etc. After starting a new search a bit further north in Jacksonville, we've finally decided on a venue to hold our ceremony and reception. Friends and family, we are proud to announce that we will be getting married on May 4th, 2013 at Queen's Harbour Yacht & Country Club.

We are so excited and cannot wait to start planning more and more! This weekend we're headed up to Charleston, SC to spend some time with my parents at the Wild Dunes Resort. Mom and I plan on spending as much time on the beach as we can, while Dad and Mike plan on taking up as much golf as possible. Fun side note: Mom pulled her wedding dress out of the attic for me to try on this weekend! It's been packaged and stored away for the past 34 years! I'm so pumped to see it and try it on! I'll be sure to post pictures as they come!

All my love,
Annie
